Vietnam's coastal islands
Vietnam many not be the best known Asian country but it does have one thing that many will recognise, its stunning beaches. The raw natural beauty of the regions coastline is something that draws thousands of visitors every year. Many tourists in the area tend to visit the little southern islands but travelling further north, to islands like the one east of Nha Trang, will allow you to make the most of the quieter locations. Other popular destinations include the islands of Phu Quoc and Con Dao.
A food tour in Hanoi
A trip to Vietnam wouldn't be complete without sampling the exotic local cuisine. From fresh cooked vegetables to fluffy boiled rice and fish curries, the local food is simply divine. If you're after the best traditional food it's the street markets you want to head to and food tours in Hanoi will take you round the best of these. If you prefer your evening meals in a more traditional setting, there's also a number of great restaurants dotted throughout the city.
Get a suit made in Hoi An
Famed for its fabrics, the historic city of Hoi An is the ideal place to get a suit made. The city is a listed World Heritage Site today, preserved as an excellent example of a 15th century South-East Asian trading port, and hidden away in its old quarter are a number of great tailors. Most people recommend a trip to Yaly, A Dong and Thu Thuy shop which is said to provide one of the best tailoring services in the city.
Drive a motorbike
Motorbikes are one of the most common forms of transportation in the country and buzzing along Vietnam's roads, taking in the surrounding scenery, really is one of the best ways to experience the country. Whist riding though the centre of Saigon or Hanoi may seem a little crazy, there are a number of quieter destinations that are ideal. The countryside of Nha Trang, or Hoi An, in particular is peaceful enough to get the most out of this experience.
